SUN Home Hospice, a Geisinger Service is seeking volunteers. Free training will be provided Tuesdays, September 6, 13 & 20 from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. in Northumberland.

 

Grief Support Group Meetings Scheduled

May 2016

The general public is invited to join SUN Home Health & Hospice, a Geisinger Service for their free-of-charge, grief support group. This six-week session, which aims to ease the emotional pain of those who have lost a loved one, will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m., June 8 through July 13, 2016 at the organization's office located at 61 Duke Street, Northumberland (next to Front Street Station restaurant).

 

Hospice Volunteer Training Planned

SUN Home Hospice, a Geisinger Service is seeking volunteers. Free training will be provided Tuesdays, May 3, 10 & 17 from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. in Northumberland.

 

Hospice Memorial Service Planned

SUN Home Hospice, a Geisinger Service will hold its annual ecumenical Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third Street in Lewisburg.

 

Free Hospice Volunteer Training Scheduled

Honor Flight, The Movie Showing Planned

SUN Home Health & Hospice. . .A Geisinger Service, as part of its We Honor Veterans partnership, is sponsoring a complimentary showing of the movie Honor Flight. This is a heartwarming documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime.

Jane Jorgensen's butterfly stretches before flying off at SUN Home Health & Hospice's butterfly release held Sunday, August 3rd in Keithans Bluebird Gardens, Sunbury. Jane is the daughter of Nathan & Emily Jorgensen from Selinsgrove; she attended the ceremony to release a butterfly in memory of her "Poppa" (great grandfather) Kenneth F. Mease.

SUN Home Health & Hospice will hold five butterfly releases this year to benefit its hospice program. 

The releases will be held: Sunday, August 3 at 2 p.m. in Keithans Bluebird Gardens, 1042 S. Front Street, Sunbury; Saturday, August 9 at 2 p.m. in the Red Pavilion, Kishacoquillas Park Electric Avenue, Lewistown; Sunday, August 10 at 2 p.m. in Brandon Park, Williamsport; Sunday, August 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Perry County Fair Church Service, Newport; and Sunday, August 24 at 2 p.m. in Riverfront Park (by Ferry landing), Millersburg.

 

Geisinger and SUN Home Health & Hospice sign comprehensive integration agreement

Danville, Pa.-Geisinger Community Health Services (GCHS) and SUN Home Health & Hospice (SUN) announced today the signing of a comprehensive integration agreement by which SUN Home Health & Hospice will become part of the Geisinger health system.  The agreement will allow the organizations to work more closely together to benefit patients in need of home healthcare, hospice and other supportive medical services.

Spirit of 45 Day Celebrated

In August of 2010, Congress unanimously voted in favor of a national "Spirit of '45 Day" honoring the legacy of the men and women who were the "ordinary heroes" of the World War II generation. This year Sunday, August 11th is the day designated to celebrate President Harry S. Truman's announcement of August 14, 1945 that World War II was over - the Greatest Generation's Greatest Day.
